With the the holidays over and the New Year in full swing, the previous season of anime has drawn to a close. If you still have no idea what you should check out in the coming season, you can sit back and relax. I've got you covered with my top recommendations.

Art / Animation

If you want a visual spectacle this season, we've got you covered. If you enjoyed the distinct visual aesthetic of K Project, you'll definitely want to check out Hand Shakers. It's the latest project from GoHands, the studio behind K Project.

Drama

Kuzu no Honkai/Scum's Wish is the story of 2 seemingly perfect people in a seemingly perfect relationship. But what everyone else doesn't know is that they're both in love with other people and just dating to not be alone. I'm recommending this one because I anticipate it to be a gritty and real look at relationships of desperation.

Sports

For some reason cycling is really popular these days. So it comes as no surprise there are 2 cycling anime this season. It'd be unfair to recommend anything other than the latest season of Yowamushi Pedal. Sorry Minami Kamakura High School Cycling Club, your title is too long and you just can't live up to the legend of the OG cycling anime.

Idols

As in past season there are multiple idol anime. Between the 3 new entries this season, I'm recommending Idol Jihen/Idol Incidents. This year is going to be a highly political one in the US, especially now that we'll have a reality TV star in the White House. That's all the more reason to unwind by watching a show about idols standing up to a corrupt government.

Ecchi

If you're just here for some fan service, how about an anime adaptation of a game where you fight vampires on the streets of Akiba by stripping their clothes off? Being animated by Gonzo and already airing, our top ecchi pick this season is Akiba's Trip The Animation. (Even the name is a pun about the lack of clothes you can expect.)

General Audiences

This category is for the rare anime that is both engaging to veteran otaku as well as general audiences that could benefit from an introductory anime. (Some examples would be any of the Studio Ghibli movies, which are beloved by all and fairly family friendly.) While not every season has a title that fits this bill, this season we are proud to recommend Little Witch Academia.
